Why good candidates get ignored
Short answer: an ATS stores and organises your application; recruiters then search it. If your resume can’t be parsed or doesn’t contain the terms they search for, you’re invisible.
Unreadable files
Columns, text boxes, scanned pages, and icons can scramble or erase your data before a person ever sees it.
Missing keywords
Recruiters search for skills and titles. If the posting says “stakeholder management” and you say “worked with people”, you don’t match.
Duties, not results
“Responsible for reporting” tells a recruiter nothing. “Cut reporting time by 70%” gets you remembered.
How it works

Questions, answered
What is an ATS resume checker?
An ATS resume checker analyses your resume the way applicant tracking software might: whether the text can be extracted, whether sections are detected, and how well your content matches a job. Resumaxing gives you a score and a prioritised fix list in about 30 seconds.
Is Resumaxing really free?
Yes. The scan and your score are free with no signup. A short email unlocks the complete fix checklist. Paid rewrite tools are on the way and will always be optional.
Is my resume uploaded to a server?
No. The analysis runs entirely in your browser. Your resume text is not sent to our servers. (PDF reading uses a library loaded from a public CDN, which does not receive your file.)
What is a good ATS score?
Roughly 75 or higher is strong, 50 to 74 is fixable, and below 50 usually signals structural problems such as unreadable text or missing sections. Scores differ between tools, so use ours as a guide for improvement.
Does ATS automatically reject resumes?
Most ATS platforms store and organise applications; recruiters search and review them. Some employers add knock-out questions or filters. Unreadable resumes can fall out of searches, which is why clean formatting matters.
PDF or Word: which is better for ATS?
Either works if it contains real, selectable text. Follow the job posting if it specifies a format. Avoid scanned or image-only files.
How do I match my resume to a job description?
Paste the job description into the scanner. We extract its top terms, show which appear in your resume, and list the missing ones. Add only the terms that are honestly true for you.
How does Resumaxing score my resume?
It is rule-based and transparent: readability, contact info, structure, impact (quantified bullets and strong verbs), formatting, and optional keyword match. It is not an official score from any employer system.
